With Caroline's 2 week birthday looming, I decided it was high time I blogged about our newest family member. Caroline Paige was born via c-section at 11:02 am. She weighed 8lbs 3 oz and measured 20 inches. She came out with a full head of black hair and long lashes. She looks very similar to big brother when he was a newborn. I stayed at the hospital until Saturday and relished the help of my in-laws who came Wednesday night and stayed until the next Tuesday night. Luke had a ball. Luke loves baby sister, Caroline or baby girl. He will ask where she is if she's not in his view. He gives her kisses that are more like blowing on her or whisper kisses and that's super cute. So far he hasn't done anything aggressive towards her, on purpose. He likes to hold her a few minutes at a time. She's a good eater and a fair sleeper. Last night she only woke up 3 times. How awesome is that at almost 2 weeks old. Even though she is sleeping good for a new baby, I am still sleep deprived. But it's better than it could be, so I'll take what I can get. I have also appreciated the meals sent over by friends and the well wishes. Hope to see you all soon!

This is Greg's hobby garden. He has grown broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and peas in this patch and tons of peppers and some lettuce in the front. He also grew cherry tomatoes last year. We are waiting to see how the strawberry patch in the front does and Greg will be experimenting with growing full size tomatoes this year.

Caroline Paige is coming

So I have a scheduled c-section tomorrow. I will be going in at 9 am and come home a few days later with a precious baby girl. Hopefully bringing baby no. 2 into the mix won't be too hard. Luke likes babies so far, but he also really likes Mommy's attention. So good luck to me and here's to a good night's sleep.

Valentines

This Valentines Day went pretty well. Luke made Daddy a valentine (coloring a page and adding stickers, until he decided to repeatedly peel the stickers off.) I got Greg some chocolates and some zhu zhu pets with battle armor, is for fun. He got me some dark chocolate truffles and a little hello kitty toy. We gave Luke some little trucks and a fireman costume. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that he is obsessed with firemen. What a cute little valentine!

Baby Shower

Last night I had a baby shower thrown me by some friends in the ward. First of all, it was at La Madaleine, one of my favorite restaurants. So many people showed up and Caroline is really set up with the cutest outfits. I was excited to receive so many dresses and bows! They did an activity which everyone made a wish for Caroline and/or Mommy about the incoming newborn. Basically I got to hear 15 friends say nice things about me, wishes of good mother daughter relationships, hopes for rest and everything going smoothly. I have attended one shower before that they did this same activity, but it is a classic. People don't get sick of hearing good things wished upon them or nice things said about them. Thank you everyone for coming!

I made this bow holder and it is basically filled up already. The main reason is because Lesley Larson alerted me to Halo Heaven's black friday event and I stocked up. In my defense, I had just learned that I was having a girl and this is how I acted upon it. Oh yeah, and I got the stuff at a good price.
This is me at 37 weeks. I was at the OBGYN's office yesterday and she asked if I was feeling pressure. I was like, heck yeah, and then she said that the baby was head down and descended all the way down. Then again, I wasn't dilated at all, so right now it looks like I will just be feeling pelvic "pressure" until my c-section Feb. 22. Awesome.

Belly shot

As per Megan's request. This is a shot of me Jan 16 at 34 weeks.0-

I've been busy as a bee working on a quilt for Caroline. If you will recall I made Luke a quilt, baby bumpers, a sheet, a dust ruffle, a picture holder and his name in matching material. So I felt like I had to at least do a quilt for her.
This is a picture of Luke throwing a fit. He didn't kick or scream just lied down on the ground in a pout.

Epic Christmas of 2011

Luke is kind of obsessed with firetrucks. He wears this fireman hat around the house and it has gotten quite battered but still lives on. He tries to wear his firetruck jammies most nights, listens and looks for firetrucks constantly and got a firetruck from his Gessel grandparents and a firetruck book from his parents.

Every 2 yr old knows how to use a remote, right?

Ever since we took off Luke's crib rail, he sleeps almost every night on the floor. This is a trait that has been passed down through the Peterson line.

Luke calls his grandparents Bampom and Bampom, or at least that is what it sounds like. He got really excited whenever either one of them entered the room.

Playing with the goats at Grandma Peterson's was a highlight of Luke's visit, as well as hanging out with his cousins

We had lots of fun spending time together. All ten of us were able to show for this year's 2011 "Epic Christmas Celebration." The boys played computer games to epic proportions, we finished America's quilt she's been working on for almost 10 years, Bonnie and I sang karaoke for at least five hours one Thursday, and we played games.

Happy Halloween!

This year Luke was our little monkey.

Greg was a jedi.

And I was a mage.

He insisted on walking the whole way and carrying his bucket. He didn't trust us to give it back to him or something.

We went trick or treating with our neighbors. Their little boy Ethan is a month older than Luke and is a very cute cowboy.

Our neighbor dressed as white trash.

Little monkey wore cowboy boots because they were the only shoe that fit over his costume.(We didn't want to carry him the whole way.) He was so cute that people would give him hand fulls. We skipped lots of houses and still had a bucket full when we got back round to our house.

A couple of weekends ago was our Young Women's Fall Camp out. We had lots of fun even though there was a fire ban in our area because of the drought. We improvised our meals using electric skillets. We took a three mile hike and were super lucky to have the best weather imaginable. Can't wait for the next one!

Sometimes we go on walks as a family. If it is getting close to Luke's bedtime he might have his foot jammies on already. And if he wants to walk outside in jammies he wears boots. We think it's adorable.
